V Tec
I have a 93 honda civc Dx hatchback. I know there is some controversy about v tec engines performance and non vtec engines. Ive heard that some people rather take a non vtech engine over vtec engines. As far as i can figure out the only problem i know of is the rocker arm design. Please reply.

I didnt know that VTEC was controversial. Please explain. To answer your question I would have to know what your looking for in power, performance, reliability.

Re: V Tec (hondacivicJJ)
There is no controversy about an engine with VTEC at all. They do what they're supossed to. Create good high end power ( ) and still are good for emissions.
Yes, upgrading to a better head will be worthwhile IMHO.
EDIT: A shorter geared transmisson (EX or SI) will do more for you than a VTEC head though.

Re: V Tec (ABK)
Hey i jsut got a 93 Del Sol , it looks good and a nice custom interior now, but i wanna get a nice engine the only thing is its auto. i have acess to teh b16a2 for a pretty good price. but i have heard those engines wont work on auto cars. i am just wondering if thats true. i can also get a ZC engine jsut the horse power is only 130 the the V-tec's 170. Is it true bout the auto thing.

A.) you can put an automatic B-series transmission on the B16 and it'll work just fine in your Del Sol.
B.) if you're considering a ZC swap, you'd be better off slapping a D16Y8 or D16Z6 in there for much cheaper.
C.) It's VTEC, not V Tec, V-tech VETEC or Vtech. It's an acronym, not an abbreviation.
