VTEC is 5700 on all stock usdm SOHC motors. (unless governed otherwise by a chipped ECU)
At 4800 you are hearing a resonance that makes it sound simliar to a crossover, its just the way the motor sounds at WOT.

Yea... sohc's shouldnt be pushed past ~7800 without internal work... and even then; that brings up the argument of whether or not internal work such as crank/rods/pistons/cams/sleeves ect is even worth it on a SOHC, unless you plan on running high boost.

My JDM D15b hits at 5700 and is loud as my friends stock B16.
The motor is completely stock.

So your saying it threw a CEL while using the stock b16 ecu but then you say in your earlier post vtec kicked in and sounded like a B series but correct me if im wrong, doesn't the ecu not allow vtec to engage if it's throwing a code for pretty much anything.

if you have a knock sensor code stored VTEC IS DISABLED, REGARDLESS OF THE ENGINE, ECU, OR ANYTHING ELSE.

Incorrect, you wont engage VTEC if you have a CEL for the VTEC solonoid itself, as well as other factors, such as low engine temp (cold starts), broken VSS, no tach reading, and low oil pressure.

Yes i do, but i have the JDM D15b w/ 3 stage, so the VTEC lobe is pretty loud and agressive.

that didnt answer my question, do you hear an increase in the intake or exhaust or both???
and by the way, the vtec lobe on the d15b 3stage is the SAME as a Y8

wrong. Knock will not cancel VTEC operation.
