Default using a stock B20 for a civic, until i get a vtec head.. what kind of power should i expect?

i can get a full B20 motor out of a CRV for 500, comes complete with alt, dist, any wiring i may need, and intake manifold. is that a good deal btw?

i searched and didnt find any info on how well they produce power in a stock form, would using this engine in my eg be okay till i go vtec? any info would be good

You would have more torque. Also you say intake manifold? Is that the b20 or swapping one off another B.

I heard one of the manifolds don't work. Not sure if it is the B20B or the B20Z

Might want to check on that.
Swap it and let us know what kind of power she gets.

If its a pre-'99 crv, you will need to swap intake manifolds, because they are really tall and wont fit under your hood. Also the Stock CRV intake manifold is PATHETIC. So you should look into a aftermarket header.
Your going to need more than just the engine for the swap, though. Your going to need flywheel and clutch(if the crv is an auto, which most are), B series tranny, an obd1 ls ecu, B series shift linkage, B series axles and intermediate shaft, and mounts.

With a good intake manifold and header, you should see 140's hp to the wheels. Good torque too.

yeah, im going to find out what year the CRV is (b20b or Z) and source out all the misc. parts i will need as well.

then maybe get like a S2R intake manifold and an exhaust manifold.

this eg will be a DD so reliable torque will be nice. okay well time to hit the books (aka search engine) and learn how to do all this.

I have a b20b in my 93 vx hatch right now, it has a gsr tranny on it. It feels pretty torquey. I like to take off at stop lights and just watch everyone turn into dots behind me. However I am going to be putting a b18b into it so I can get it legal. Peace. BTW remember that a b20 isn't a legal swap (at least in cali) so you might want to check the laws that apply to your area.

I don't think u mean "intake manifold" but exhaust manifold. Just wanted to point that out.

I'm gonna swap my d16y8 with a b18b. plz let me know how the swap goes... Do you have to get a new tranny set-up or does the current one in ur car suffice?

yea im figuring that if i can get a complete 99+ B20 with under 50k for 500$ then that is a decent deal..... mmm .2 more liters in a b series doesnt sound like a bad idea.

as far as transmission goes, i am looking for a b16 si trans due to the really close gear ratios.

until i went vtec tho im assuming the non-vtec B20 will be "okay" quick.... but i am assuming the vtec head will help a lot.

so a stock 99+ B20 should be around 140 whp/ or power at the flywheel?

then how much will a GSR head add? along with a few bolt ons (intake manifold and an exhaust header) thanks for any replies.

Honestly I would look for a gen 2 b16 head from sir II or even like the b16a2 head if you can.
I am not a fan of the gsr heads/intake manifold. But thats your choice.

Would be interesting to hear your results for others interested in this. The actual swap seems fair especially if you already had a b-series setup.

B20 non vtec yep. Let me know how that works because I might be selling my B16 long block in the hatch seeing how I am about to pick up a 94 gsr sedan.

I might go b20/vtec all motor setup for the hatch or maybe H2B if it works out right.
