you have Vtec-E, for economy
and I'm pretty sure the VX has a D15Z1

USDM Engine codes
CX VX DX LX EX SI
D15B8 D15Z1 D15B7 D15B7 D16Z6 D16Z6

his actually has vtec, for acceleration.
his tranny came with a LSD option, hopefully he got it.

our SI engines, are there DX engines (D16z6 ~ D15B)
and there Si Engine were B16a, and we didn't even have that option

my bad, I sure have been a little more in-depth. I know mine shitty, but internally whats different? can I get mine to 130-140 by opening(bigger intake manifold-exhaust) or are they that much different? I was only wondering because tonight I really noticed how slow it is. I was trying to go up a hill and it just had no power. I'm not worried about making it faster, its got 250,000 miles. just curious what the diff. is.

I COULD write a 5 page essay on why the JDM D15B is better than your D15Z1, but I'd probably just waste my time doing so...so i'll hit the key points:

-You have the longest gears in the world. The transmission is geared for fuel economy, not acceleration.

-Your throttle body could be plugged up with a golf ball, meaning the engine doesn't flow enough air to produce real power. Your intake and exhaust manifolds also don't flow very well, meaning less power.

-Your entire motor was designed for fuel economy. In 1995, the Civic VX was the most gas thrifty car ever produced, making over 50MPG on the highway. The entire engine itself is designed for fuel economy, not speed (again, the details are irrelevant).

for the price of a new header you can pick up the d15b vtec and d16z6 ecu. I have one in my 94 sedan and it's got great around town pick up also you can usually get the EX/Si trans for less than 200 which is actually a bigger diference in acceleration than the engine upgrade
