URGENT: Tranny Help....
ok... somehow... all of a sudden.... my trans will not go into reverse... its like reverse is locked.... it wont so much as grind into it anymore... and it now grinds if i downshift into second... say around a corner... i'm thinking just a simple trans flush with some GM Syncromesh and it will help it some... but it still bafles me that gm syncromesh would help my reverse problem... Any ideas? i seriously hope its nothing serious... i've never had any tranny problems before... the car is an EG coupe with like 99.5k on it...
EDIT: i've got all 5 gears exept reverse

Have you checked if you linkage is binding somewhere? Have you checked your bushings? When I changed out my shifter bushings to ES ones, I never had trouble getting into Reverse again. I always had to try at least 4 times to get into it. Bushings were shot. Now, I go into 5th and then into Reverse (I always did this to prevent grinding) and I never missed Reverse ever since.

if it grinds going into a gear sounds like your clutch is going? but on the reverse i think it might be that safty device so you dont trow your car in revers going down the high way it could be stuck but thats just my $0.2

Re: (hondainspired)
DID THE FLUSH.... !!!! i donno if it has to break in or warm up or what not but... my shifting normaly got a little smoother but i still grind into second if i'm over like... 4k.... and if i downshift into second (like clutch still in but prepare to round a corner) it still grinds... i only got Two QTs worth of syncromesh in when it started to flow out... so it could still be low?!?!

it takes 500-600 miles to fully take affect. just drive in the low rpm range and dont beat up on it for about 500 miles or so. ive used the stuff in 3 trannys and i would recomend it to anyone. its very good ****. it helps if you can drive long distances to get it warmed up. on my first, i put the stuff in with a solid 3rd grind. roadtrip about 450 miles and it never grinded again.

I like the sound of that... but still i only put 2qts in and it started to flow out at the end of the 2qts...is it to low still?
