URGENT B16 Question
I have a B16A1 block as I assumed it would bolt to my B16A2 head c/w cams etc.
(rings shot) I was aware that the C/R was lower in the B16A1 but as the head is milled it didn't bother me. BUT Honda (UK) say the headgasket for the A1 is one digit different to the A2. Is that how they changed the C/R?
Please someone who definatley knows tell me if the A1 block bolts straight up to the A2 head.
I mean I have never head that when using a B18 block and B16 head it has to be a particular one! Or that a spoon gasket is A1 or A2 particular......
If it does what gasket should I get?
I am majorly confused and have no motor in my car.
Sorry i've gone so long and I know I will get greif from some people but PLEASE help!
Thanks in advance guys.

So if the headgasket fits across the range then they head will bolt up and run fine too? I know it seems like common sense but I need to know before I re-assemble and turn the key?

Re: URGENT B16 Question (pennies_hatchie)
thinner the gasket the more the compression goes up... as in 3 layer gasket(stock) or 2-layer or 1-layer(spoon)(mugen), they are about 150 bucks...

The real question was does a B16A2 head fit a B16A1 block? As Honda (UK) list the headgaskets as one digit different in the part no. I thought maybe this was how the A1 had lower comp.
I REALLY need to know if the A2 head fits the A1 block no probs!

It is, a thinner head gasket brings the cylinder head closer to the block. Therefore less space between pistons and the head.
