I KNOW THIS DOESN'T BELONG HERE BUT I DIDN'T HAVE PERMESSION TO POST IN GEN. DISSC. I NEED YOUR HELP, I BOUGHT A 2000 SI FROM A ACURA DEALER, A MONTH LATER I DROPPED IT OFF FOR SERVICE, THE NIGHT AFTER SOMEBODY BREAKS INTO MY CAR AND STEALS MY FRONT BUMPER, DASBOARD, SEATS, AND MY RADIATOR. THE DEALER IS ASKING ME TO TELL MY INSURANCE COMPANY, SHOULDN'T THEIR INSURANCE COVER THIS? I NEED YOUR HELP GUYS WHAT SHOULD I DO SUE THEM OR ASK FOR A NEW CAR?

Exactly what I would do. They should have cameras out there. And aren't there gates around where they keep the cars over night?... Kinda suspicious...

Definitely should be covered by the dealership's insurance. We've had a few break-ins at our dealership before, and the coverage was our responsibility, not the customer's.

No dealership that I know of has the service parking lot fenced in. How would people drop off their cars after hours if they did?

Your car should have been insure if it wasn't.
Your car shouldn't have been broken into in a car lot. It's the lots responsibility dog. They probably did it.

Re: URGENT!!!! (tm1520)
Contact your insurance agent. Tell them what happened. If you can take care of this without lawyers everyone is better off. The dealership should be responsible if the car was in thier posession when this took place but often times your insurance company will help to fight on your behalf (because if you lose then they have to pay and they never want to pay). What you do not want to do is file a claim with your insurance company if you can help it.
BTW, IANAL (I Am Not A Lawyer). Good luck.

Don't all garages always have huge signs stating they aren't responsible for damage or theft to any of the cars?
I see this at all garages, whether it's a backyard mechanic or a dealership. If they have something similar to this around, I'm afraid you're screwed.
Then again, a lawsuit sounds good right about now.

That's ****. I mean, I know you're right. It's just that its so stupid. If someone or someplace is in posession of my car, then I'm sure as hell going to hold them responsible if anything happens to it during that time. I've heard of dealership workers being busted for thieving **** off of cars on their lot over night. Man I hate thieves...
