Urethane Fix? Can it be done?
Ok...here's the question....is there any urethane fix stuff like bondo or fiberglass that I can fix my factory bumper with? The reason I ask is b/c my factory front bumper has a huge crack in it from where I hit a dog and I was wondering if there was a way to fix it b/c after this happened I purchased the C West front and I'm gettin' sick of trying to bolt the damn thing to my car...it won't stay.....so any help will be greatly appreciated....

yes there is you have to lay down a strip of fiberglass down and use a bondo(its basically a fiberglass base) and sand it down dand paint it.I had the same problem and it just became to big of a pain in the *** to sand down(I used an orbital sander btw)and primer and paint, it would be easier to just buy one off someone.check your local body shops usually they will sell you the bondo.

ok here is my .02
after speaking to several body shops about problems like this i have come to realize that urethane cannot be fixed with fiberglass/bondo. HOWEVER some bodyshops have what is known as a plastic welder, just ask them it does exist. basically its like a big glue gun that uses strips of plastic and lays out a thick bead that can be sanded or shaved down. it works, i have personally fixed numerous urethane bodykits like this. so before you waste your time and money trying bondo, check out the shops in your area before you make the problem worse than it already is.

paintscratch.com has some repair kit for bumpers.
Side note: If you hit that dog while driving through a neighborhood, please PAY ATTENTION and don't DRIVE TOO QUICKLY. Pets are meaningful to their owners, and I don't want to see anybody hitting a kid..

1. it was dark
2. it was raining
3. speed limit = 35/ my speed 30
4. if someone cared enough about that dog...don't you think it would have been inside a fence/house instead of running around the neighborhood...especially near a busy street?

Okay..just making sure. Some things are fairly inevitable. I just dont like those guys who drive 50 through a 25 neighborhood that SHOULD be 25..

Fixing a urethane bumper is useless...you are going to end up saving money most likely by just getting a new one. At least that is what every body shop person I have talked to has said, but then again, I've never damaged a urethane bumper.

Re: (DSeriesBeeKilla)
sand down the back of the bumper where it needs to be repaired then fiberglass mat it for reinforcement.....hella sand down the crack in the front so its reeeaalllyy exposed then go to work with the bondo. make sure ur first couple layers of bondo fill well. you'll be fine, fiberglass and filler fix everything if done correctly
ps. "bondo" filler sux ***, go to a shop that sells body repair products and get some good filler.
