Update!! Hissing from b18 engin compartment
to everyone that tried to help me with techniques for finding vacuum leaks thank you i did look into everything...
but i found out the problem, on the stock intake mani for b18c1 (p78), there is a nipple facing the firewall near the back of the mani...the hose came off of that nipple and i need to replace it. while the car idles and i cover that hole the engine dies suddenly. the loud hissing i described was that nipple sucking air, my question is where does that vacuum line to go? the rubber hose goes to a steel tube mounted along the fire wall on the drivers side LOOKS like down toward the pedal assembly but im not sure.
If anyone knows what im talking about lemme know, and if connecting that line back up should build up the compression and hopefully make idle smoother and higher...now at about 200rpms can hardly keep the car running in idle.
a little off topic...when i look down at the engine compartment facing it..the engine is tilted toward the front/driverside. i know there is a mount on pass, drv, and rear...kinda curious which would be faulty as the drv side one LOOKS new and the others looks dull and worn due to being original.
any help would be appreciated thanks,
steve
