Default Universal Muffler

Ok, I currently have the Apexi Dunk cat back system. It is too loud and the tip is way too big. I want something quieter and with a smaller tip. I have heard good things about the Apexi WS. I know that Apexi does not sell just the WS muffler. Is there a universal muffler out there that is quiet, and comparable to the WS? Is the Apexi RS comparable? I am choosing to get a universal muffler cause i can retain the piping from the Dunk, and save some money.

If anyone can give me some ideas and a good place to purchase that would be awesome. Thanks...

ES oval,..JDMhondaparts.com,..i think its like 89 bucks if im not mistaken,...but yea i know the ES oval is much quieter then the DUNK,..this is funny though,..becuase i got the dunk on one EK,..and the ES oval on my other EK,...and im looking for the full catback apexi WS to replace the dunk,...the dunk aint really all that loud compared to say the racing medallion or something,..but its deafening to me when i drive the widebody after driving my hatch with the ES oval,..so yea i have first hand experience with the dunk and the ES oval,..oh and on a plus side the ES oval resembles a stock muffler,..very small tip and discreet,..i like it because im going sleeper with one EK because i already got a show car - hope i helped

thanks for the reply...

the dunk sounded good when i was not commuting everday to work...now i get kinda tired of it. i have heard nothing but good things about the WS, but i can't justify buying the whole exhaust just for the muffler, since i already have custom piping from the dunk.

i have heard good things about the es oval too...i will check it out more thoroughly.

yea,..the dunk is nice and all,.but the tip is just to big for me now,..it sounds good though,..i have also heard good things about the apexi WS,..i would get the DC twin canister for my car if they made it but they dont make it yet,..i heard its quiet,..ummm also i have heard the mozart muffler is quiet also,..its a mugen knock off i think,..mugen axle back is nice and all but too pricey just for a axle back,..good luck,..and if you come across a good price for the WS then could you let me know,..thanks and good luck

and to all the sleepers out there,..i really suggest the ES oval with some custom mandrel bent piping,..it is quiet and it looks almost stock and it doesnt stand out

The thermal is kind of loud. I have had both the classic system and the stealth system. I have an Apexi WS now and love it! Anyone want to buy a Thermal stealth catback for a 96-00 HB? It has less than 10 miles on it. $400 + shipping. dwnthehatch@yahoo.com

what size piping from the cat back would you guys recommend for an ek with b16a2, toda headers, aem cai, factory cat? this is for the ES oval muffler of course...what would be more benificial 2.25 or 2.5 in power gains or quieter?

The 2.5 will get you more top end, but it's going to be louder, and you need to do something about the stock cat, either straight pipe, or move to a bigger cat to increase flow.

if you want something quiet and comparable to the Apexi WS..you will have to get the Mugen Twinloop Axle back.....I personally have the ES oval muffler...its quiet..but no where near as quiet as a world sport or the Mugen twin loop..and also the ES oval muffler is 99 bucks for a 2.25 and 109 for a 2.5

Thanks for all the input people. I just can't justify the money for a Mugen Twin Loop. I could bye the whole Apexi WS for the amount of the axel back Mugen. So the ES Oval is louder than the WS huh? The ES Oval is still quieter than the Dunk right? At this point I think I might go with the ES Oval. Looks stock and is probably a lot quieter than the Dunk...still wish they made the WS axel back. Oh, well. The R&D is loud? I like the stock look though...
