unchipped p06 in a 96dx with obd2 to obd1 conversion
I have a 96 civic dx. I installed a intake manifold off of a d16z6 on to the d16y7. Now I bought a obd2 to obd1 conversion harrness and a p06 out of a 94 civic dx. I hate the 6700rpm rev limiter on the y7 which is why I bought the conversion harness. Can I run the p06 unchipped with out any problems? Not looking for 8000rpms but i'm pretty sure the p06 rev limiter is 7200 which is perfect.

Well I figured it out for myself I just plugged it in and it started right up. I was thinking to myself this is sweet and then the cel came on and it stalled so Im gonna have to call Phearable.

But it can be chipped and the oem ecu can't. Also note I got the conversion harness for $30.50 shipped and the p06 for $10 so I dont have much into it.

my oem ecu is chipped. who told you it cant be chipped? i chipped mine and my rev limit is 8200 although i dont recommend it cause i never push it that high, so chipping it was a waste for me.

I think those are more the power rating not really the rev limiter. This could be a converted ecu because it came out of a car my friend bought which was modified. I have drove it before and it revved to 7200rpms so another thing that points to it being chipped.

The ecu has never been chipped. The p06 is for a 92-95 civic dx and the p05 is from the 92-95 civic cx. Both are 5spd ecu's. I searched to be sure.

94 and 95 Civic DX came with a P06-A02 which has a revlimiter at 6648.
It's a standard OBD1 ECU which is chip-able and tune-able.
96 civic DX came with a p2e-a01 or p2e-a03 depending on which part of the production time table your car was made. Both are OBD2, neither are easily chip-able.
