uh oh... attack of the unidentifiable noises!
NOTE: This may be related to a recent incident
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=550054
Well today I got back from class I started the car up and noticed a new annoying noise coming from my 93 dx's engine. I check it out and pop the hood... hard to tell where it's coming from but sounds like the alternator area... then again also sounds like the injector/fuel rail/IM area.
The sound is directly related to rpm, you can't hear it at all above 2500-3000 rpm. When it first started it was most noticeable at idle. Later on today about 20 miles later I parked at home and I thought the noise was gone. NOPE, just doesn't make the noise at all in idle any more now it only makes noise over about 1000-1100 rpm and below 2500-3000 rpms. Weird.
About the noise it self: Sound like chirping, like birds... also kinda like crickets. I'm thinking the alternator bearing?? The sound goes right away when I turn the car off. I tried belt dressing... that **** never works. Also tried to spray lithium grease on the alternator shaft thing... didn't help any.
Any help would be appreciated!
