Just get a b18c1 block and put it in your car. The tranny would have been the only thing I would have told you to keep (short of the IM or the whole damned motor).

If you decide not to use the entire head definately install the cams in your b16 head......i promise you wont be disapointed with the results

The best deal would be to keep the whole motor! But if you cant do that, deffinitley get the head.It is the best flowing b-series head. You could also use the pistons if your friedn doesn't take the whole bottom end.

**** guys please don't post if you're not sure about your info.
First of all both the B18C5 and B16a have the same bore. the ITR engine gets it's additional displacement from STROKE and a 3mm taller block.
Also ITR pistons have LOWER domes on them than B16A slugs. So swapping in ITR pistons in a B16A would LOSE power.
Either keep the entire engine and swap it, or keep the block and add your B16a pistons to the ITR rods and have a nice 11.3:1 CR B18C5 block in your Civic.
the only parts better on the Type R engine aside from the bottom end itself would be:
The head, which is only slightly better. It's the exact same thing as a B16A head, but has MILD port and polish work on it from the factory.
Cams - higher lift, more duration.
Valvetrain - stiffer and better for higher revs than stock B16A stuff, but not a huge difference. Will be no noticable difference other than possibly not blowing up after a misshift.
Intake manifold - shorter, fatter runners and better overall flow. Bigger surge tank too.
That's about it.
If you want to be a dick and let your buddy take those pistons thinking they're so bad-*** be my guest, but IMO you are RUINING the best part of the B18C5 when you part it out, and that's the BUILD QUAILTY itself.
If you want to ruin a perfectly good engine please don't start with a nice 2000 B18C5.
Sell that to someone who appreciates it and buy yourself a B18C1 block and build it with better internals and call it a day bro.
