type r e-brake cables

type r e-brake cables
i have a 96' dx coupe with type r 5 lug on the rear well my when i connected my type r e-brake cables to my e-brake and feels to tight can i get that loose because if feels when i am driving that the brake is on are the type r e-brake cables shorter than the stock dx ones?? let me know asap what i can do thanks you
