Default Type R B18 C ????

My buddy just put pistons in his B18 and we were wondering if its safe to fire up and drive with a stock tune. He put in JE 12.5:1 compression pistons

yeah, just retard the timing, and use the highest octane gas, get colder spark plugs, and a colder thermostat. you want to try to prevent detonation.

93 oct or does he need more? And, now that its higher compression do we need to add more fuel? And if so he has stock injectors will that be ok?

It all has to do with preventing detonation.. As it's been stated before --->

Go 2 heat ranges lower on the plugs. PFR6G-11 is the stock plug, go with a PFR4G-11 if it exists and you want to stay with the platinum plugs...

Ok sounds like a plan. What should I gap the plugs at and how much should the timing be retarded? Got stock cams but do have AEM adjustable cam gears also which ones do we retard exhaust or intake or both? Last but not least who makes colder thermostats and where could I find one of them at? I now understand that high octaine is needed does it have to be 104 or can we get away with premium 93oct pump gas

i'd try premium with some octane booster and you shouldnt have to change the fuel requirements since bumping compression creates a more effecient engine so if anything you should be using less fuel.

oh yeah, have the spark plugs gapped less than stock, don't know exact measurements, look at other motor compression ratios/gap. i hope this is temporary.

To prevent detonation, you'd have to use more fuel.

OP...your stock injectors will probably be fine. I wouldn't beat the crap out of the car with the stock tune and injectors...but for the sake of driving somewhere to have it tuned, I think you'll be fine. Don't beat on it. Don't drive around like that for too long.
