Default Two Questions: VTEC OEM wiring check and wiper interval in '93 CX Hatch

Hey Guys... I searched around but couldn't find answers, perhaps these questions were answered in very old posts... anyways:

Here's a quote from the Wikipedia page describing Honda B-series engines:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by "Wikipedia" &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">If a VTEC engine is to be installed in a car which did not have a VTEC engine, then additional wiring for the VTEC will have to be run; a minor chore (**With the exception of the Civics produced for the 1992 year. All came equipped with the VTEC wiring despite most models lacking VTEC).</TD></TR></TABLE>
Question #1: My 1993 CX Hatch (8v SOHC non-VTEC) door-jam tag says: "Honda of Canada - 04/'93". How do I know whether my Hatch came with VTEC wiring preinstalled? Is there any way I can check?

Question #2: The wiper interval is too fast even at the first position. I don't think it's a car problem, I have a feeling it was programmed that way from factory. This is not a big deal, however is there any simple way to slow down the wipers at the first position? There should be an interval of 2-3 seconds like most other cars but the interval in my case is like half second. I can't use this in light rain conditions because the wipers operate on a dry windshield and I don't want to wear them unnecessarily.

Thank you in advance for the help!

-Walter

The Vtec wiring wasn't put into the car that didn't come equiped with vtec engines.

I have a 92 CX... when I put my b16 in there I had to wire the vtec and other sensors... It helps if you have a the newer ecu with vtec, and a wiring diagram for the vtec, and an extra wiring harness or two so it looks hella clean when your done...

As for the windshield wipers, I've been interested in that for long time. Unfortunately I havent done any research on it.... but it does bug the heck out me when its light rain and the wipers are going nuts.

Good luck

I do not believe that the CX or VX hatch came with intermiten wipers, either that or it was an option.

My 92 VX has On and Off only.

Thanks for the replies guys.

My Hatch has 2 or 3 different wiper speeds if I recall correctly.

One last question: what's the most efficient yet safe way you guys recommend me to clean the MAP sensor? I have the type on top of the Throttle Body.

Thanks,

-Walter

I'm not certian on how to clean a MAP sensor. i do know that if it truly needs it, use something that is not too harsh.

as far as the wiper speed. that is factory.... it can be added on easily with the ICU and the switch. You'll need one out of a DX or EX that have intermittent wipers.

i have a CX too and would like intermittent wipers..... just haven't got around to obtaining an ICU or wiper switch.

Your wipers have 4 postions

Off
On
On-Super Fast
and,

Wipe Yourself.

CX and VX does not come with intermitten wipers, you need the SI or DX stalk and the module.
