Two Dead Cylinders
I've got a 92 eg coupe with a b16a3 swap from a 94 del sol SI. 3rd and 4th cylinders are dead (checked by removing plugs and had no effect on either cylinder) I've got gas shooting out the exhaust and back fire up the yingyang. Strong smell of gas inside the cabin. I had a pretty decent oil leak prior to it going out, would smoke out the bottom and the hood but only if I accelerated hard or hit Vtec. Don't know if that helps any, just giving as much information as I know. Replaced my ECU, injectors, spark plugs and wires. I know I've getting spark and I know I'm getting fuel but it still is running only on 2 cylinders. Haven't done a compression check due to the lack of a compression test gauge. Don't really know where to go from here. Buddy suggested it was my head gasket, I know you can lose compression from that but I didn't think it would ultimately cause two cylinders to die. Please help me out!

Re: Two Dead Cylinders
Are your plug wires in the correct order? Do you have all of your grounds connected? Bad grounds can cause the ignition to break up and not have enough power to actually light the fuel in the cylinder.
Do yourself a favor, stop listening to your buddy.

Re: Two Dead Cylinders
Get a compression tester and check your compression. I bet #3 and #4 are zero or darn near. The head gasket can blow in between the cylinders so you don't get the other signs of a bad head gasket like oil in coolant or coolant in oil or radiator shooting coolant or bubbling like mad etc. Instead you get two no compression cylinders that are side by side.
The compression test will tell you a lot. If there is compression in #3 and #4 then you know it's either fuel or spark (ignition) problems with those two cylinders.
