Default Two Clusters dont' work!!! Srs light is on, what could be the problem?

heya i have a 92 eg. I've tried installing 2 different clusters but the tach on both of them don't work. So im assuming it's not the clusters. The only thing i could possibly think of is that when i bought the car the SRS and airbag thing isn't plugged in near the steering wheel, could that have anything to do with it? What else on the car can i check to get a rpm reading? Could it be something under my hood? Thanks!

the srs(airbag) should have nothing to do with the tach not working.

i was going to tell you maybe your model wasnt wired for it, but i have a 93 eg dx, went from auto to manual, added a factory cluster w/ a tach, and by airbag is disconnected, works fine. your situation sounds weird, get a repair manual and find out exactly how the tach wire is ran and double check the wiring, maybe it has been cut? or damaged?

dont know what else to say - sorry!

also, are you trying to install a 92-95 cluster, or are you trying to install another model?

nope it's a 92-95 ex cluster. I had my stock cluster in there. Everything works fine; the temp, the fuel, the speedo, everything! Just this damn tach don't work on the 2 different clusters i've tried.

If the yellow conectors r all pluged,it could be the sensor of the front end,it could be the back wiring of the cluster if u really dont wanna see the SRS light u can just take off the bulb...in back of the cluster has litle fat screws made out of plastic u take it off where the SRS light should be...simple n good luck

My airbag light also stays on. Also the horn did not blow. I got a cable reel and it is installed. The horn blows now but the light is still on. Here are some instructions I found on how to do it.
The proper procedure for aligning the clockspring (Honda calls it a cable reel) is as follows:
1. Be sure the wheels are facing straight ahead.
2. Rotate the steering shaft clockwise until it stops.
3. Rotate counterclockwise approximately two turns until the yellow gear tooth lines up with the mark on the cover.
4. The arrow mark on the clockspring should point straight up.
5. Reassemble steering shaft.
Airbag codes can be retrieved by connecting the SCS service connector to the service check connector as shown in the graphic. The SRS lamp will blink a two-digit code for a malfunction. If the system is normal, the lamp will display continuous short blinks. Repair any codes present.
