Default Re: tweeter pod question? (greenmonster)

I was just working on installing new tweeters in my car last night.

Here are some pics of my new Infinity tweeters mounted into 96-00 civic tweeter pods. The box says that the Infinity tweeters are 2 and 1/16 inch, but they only measure and 1 and 1/2.

It's kind of hard to determine the size of the OEM tweeter speakers though. The back of the OEM tweeter measures 1 and 1/8 inch. The front though (which would include the little grill, and plastice bezel), measures almost 2 in. (1 and 13/16 to be exact.)

front of OEM speaker, (I don't know if they count the grill and black plastic bezel when measuring the speaker)
back of OEM speaker. This is a little over an inch, this may be what they measure the speaker by.
My Infinity tweeter compared to OEM.
A few shots of the Infinities.

I didn't install them into the car yet. I need to get some speaker wire, and hook up the crossovers, and amp. I'll get some pics up when I do though.

Yeah, I had to trim a off the little "nipple, (lol)" off the base where the tweeter sits in the pod. It's like a little 1/8 inch square that prevents the stock speaker from moving around, the stock speaker has a subsequent 1/8 inch notch in the speaker housing and they kind of fit into each other. I had to cut it out for my Infinities to fit since they didn't have a notch.
