Turn signal relay verses flasher????
I just bought a 1994 Honda Civic Del Sol SI which had been sitting for a few years (which is like forever in Illinois), and I have slowly been piecing it back together.
The turn signal (left or right) can take up to ten seconds to start flashing when the car is cold (never have this problem when it is warmed up). I just assumed it was the turn signal flasher $10 bucks no problem. However, when I looked it up there is a turn signal flasher ($15) and turn signal relay ($132). Never had a Honda before, so I was a bit confused. I got down in there and the thing called a Turn Signal Relay is what "clicks", and has a six wire plug. I can't even find a turn signal flasher, and if the relay controls the turn signals, what is the turn signal flasher even for?
So I have a couple questions. What is the difference between the two, is there any suggestions to figure out which is the problem. And where is a good place to buy a Turn Signal Relay if that is the problem?? I found it for half of anywhere else at Rockauto.com, but don't like to give out my info on new sites so anyone know are they legit or what???

I don't think so. When you turn the Hazards on, or the Turn Signals on, the same relay is being actuated (i.e. you can hear/feel it clicking)
But no, every time I turn the Hazards on they have worked, but since the turn signals only have a delay sometimes, it isn't an exact science.

This^ doesn't fit well with a relay problem. I recommend that you clean the electrical contacts inside the turn signal switch. The contacts may be corroded.

A little confused on the "flasher". There is only one part and it is called a "turn signal/ hazard relay"
part number 14 here: http://www.hondapartsunlimited.com/p...rol-unit-cabin
As for Rock Auto they are a very reputable company. I've probably placed 20 orders with them over the years, never a problem.
Wondering if it could be a battery voltage issue. Once the alternator recharges the battery the circuit works normally.

Thanks, suggestion to clean the contacts saved me $100 bucks. I'd buy you a case if you're ever in Bloomington.
