Turn key and all power cuts off -- Short Circuit? Alarm? ECU? (solved)
As if I didn't have enough problems. 1993 Honda Del Sol D15B7. Would start everyday without a problem. Today I jumped in the car, turned the car on. All lights came on like normal, fuel pump primed. I go to start the car, I hear a click and everything goes black.... no power. Now I turn the key to the "on" position and nothing.... no lights nothing. I think I saw the turn signals blink a few times on their own.
So I wait about 15 - 20 minutes and try again. Now I have power again. I turn the key and same thing. WTF is going on? Is this a factory alarms system that decided to arm suddenly? Did something short out? Is the ECU bad?
Whether its related or not the dash lights have been intermittently cutting out and coming back on when I use the turn signal. Any ideas?

Check the battery connections and make sure they are all clean and tight. Could also be a loose connection at the starter or ground somewhere.

My car does it sometimes, because my negative battery cable is fubared, it doesn't hold well. Check your battery cables as Eddie said. Once you seat it down better on the battery, all power will come back. If thats the problem, tighten it, or buy a new one.

1-Check for a dead battery.
2-Make sure the battery ground wire attached to the frame is clean and tight.
3-Check the ignition switch.

The positive cable was connected but not tight enough, I guess it had wiggled up on the terminal. Problem solved. What I don't get though is why the hazards were randomly blinking. Either way at least one less thing to worry about.
