I want to buy a civic then turbo charge it, should i spend the extra money to buy one with VTEC or just stick to the cheaper non-VTEC? Will there be much performance difference between the 2? ie VTEC with Turbo VS non-VTEC with Turbo

My personal preference are B18B, B20, and H23 are good for force inducting. Turbo'ing vtec engines will have some unreliable issues especially if your on a budget. If you already have a vtec engine just stay N/A, but it's your engine and your personal preference, my $0.02. GL.

barefootbonzai how much more would it end up costing you to go lsvtec and such i would honestly turbo the ls you'll get around if not hte same gains save the money for building the block.

No it won't. You slap a turbo kit on a VTEC engine just like any other engine. What's he going to do? Wear out his electronically controlled VTEC?

the b20 sleeves are poop. i think compression is the issue here. lower compression gives you the ability to run more boost, and/or run the same boost with less chance of detonation. most vtec motors are over 10:1 compression, which doesnt leave much area for safety when tuning and should detonation occur, chances are it will be more destructive quicker in a higher compression motor. as someone mentioned earlier, the sohc vtec has a 9.2 and 9.6:1 compression(z6 and y8 respectively), which will let you get vtec and have a relatively larger room for error due to the lower compression. possibly the best thing to do for high hp is use a b series vtec and lower the compression via headgasket and/or lower comp. pistons. this gives you the vtec and excellent flow of a b series head, and the ablility to run more boost/be safer with lower boost. this is definately something that you will have to spend hours upon hours reading about and deciding for yourself, what i said here is just stuff to get you thinking about some aspects of your question
