Turbo on a stock 1998 civic ex?
How bad would it be for the engine?
Would it be cheaper to get a engine swap instead?
Best websites to get turbo?
thanks for all help

Just turboed up my 180k mile d16z6 with a greddy turbo at 10 psi, and it went 13.20@110 mph on street tires,,....This is in a full weight 94 dx coupe....I would say boost her on up..!!!

I would look into getting a t3 60 trim .60/.48 turbo for pretty much any stock d-series.

I was just kinda of comparing your times with mine and your traps look high for your setup and your ET looks low for street tires (unless they are drag radials at low tire pressure), especially since your running a smaller turbo that I am. What were your 60 foots? Good times though.

60fts were 2.19 on the 13.20@110 mph....(street tires, not drag radials)..10 psi/boost

Yeah it seems like people are thinking they are reinventing the wheel. We arent the first and wont be the last.
Anyway
If you have no clue what you are doing....READ. There is alot fo good info between here, homemadeturbo.com and turbod16.com. For a first timer, I would suggest a pre made kit unless you have a turbo experienced person walking you through each piece in the buying process.

You choice should be based on
1) the level of emissions you need to meet
2) experience working on cars
If you are in a smog strict state, like CA.....you will be limited to E.O. legal kits. If your state doesn't care, then if you are good at wrenching start with a custom kit. If working on your car is something new, so with a turbo kit.
Boost is the cheapest way to make more power on Honda's!

Re: Turbo on a stock 1998 civic ex? (Marauder)
Edelbrock makes a whole CARB legal bolt on kit that comes with everything you need. A little more expensive, but it's the route I'd go if I didn't have my Y7.

Re: Turbo on a stock 1998 civic ex? (undertheradar)
i use to have a greddy turbo kit on my car and i loved it...
just make sure you dont waste all your money on it and dont have enough money for a boost controller or intercooler and blow a hole through the piston
