Turbo Sizing Question for B16A2
So I have been researching the crap out my build and I am still putting together pieces here and there.
I was thinking of running a GT3076R Turbo with a 0.63 AR but I was looking at the compressor maps and think it might not work out for my car. Should I run the smaller GT3071R because my engine is a little closer to the efficiency islands on that map, or is the 3076R going to make more power while still remaining close to the 3071R's low end spool up. Compressor map links below...
I guess I am just worried about the turbo surging before it even hits the efficiency islands...
Looking to run 10psi and make anywhere between 300hp - 400hp
A few details of the build:
B16A2 9.0 CR, Portflow Headwork, Crower Stage 2 Turbo Cams
Full Race Turbo kit
AEM Fuel Setup with 550cc injectors
hondata s300 dyno tuned
so on and so forth
Many more bells and whistles so if you need any more information on the setup, just let me know.
Looking to do this right so trying to get as much info as possible. Thanks in advance!
Here's some info to help you read the compressor maps...

Re: Turbo Sizing Question for B16A2
what will the car be primarily used for? drag car or street car?
Also, you are going to be close to maxing out you 550's with 400hp unless you start bumping up the fuel pressure.

Re: Turbo Sizing Question for B16A2
this should be in the force induction section
those are both nice turbos for b16's, IMO. but if i were your i would look into the garret t3/t4. thats what my current setup is and i love this turbo its the 57mm trim with the 0.63 ar. i love this turbo supports my power goals perfect with nice spool time.

Re: Turbo Sizing Question for B16A2
ok thanks, will go to the turbo section and wade around a bit more.
Realistically, I don't think I will be hitting 550 hp, probably not even 500. I would like to make it to around 400 with 450 being maxed out.
I'm going to keep it on the street and take it to the track from time to time just to open her up
Based on the charts, it looks like I am going to surge the compressor no matter which setup I go with, so maybe limit myself with the 3071 and eliminate as much surge as possible?
What do you guys think?
Oh and I will post this in the turbo forums, unless you guys know how to move it, then I can do that.

Re: Turbo Sizing Question for B16A2
your going to eventually want more power so get the turbo to support your motor and just tune it down... that way when you decide.. ok i wanna go faster you can re-tune it and still have the goods to go. im a fan of the gt35r garrett makes
