turbo question

Default turbo question

i know i know i keep asking about turbo stuff im sorry im trying to learn.
so my friend has a turbo for a diesel motor that he would give me to throw on my car but the exhaust housing is a 1.00 ar so the turbo wont spool till god only knows when if it even spools... is there anyway to swap housings to a lower ar that would work for my car. 2000 honda civic si. i know this may sound stupid but would a t3 or t4 housing work? much help is needed again im learning so bear with me please... thanks

you have to find out what size the rear wheel is, and then you can find a rear housing that fits that same size wheels with a lower A/R and yes you can swap it onto your turbo. That is a good size turbo BTW, if you can get something around a .63 or .48 for the rear you'll be in good shape, probably see boost around 4,000 or so. My B16 saw full boost at 4,700 with a .84 rear housing on a turbo about the same size as that, but mine is fully built 84MM. I downgraded the rear housing to a .63 and I am seeing boost about 4,000 now.

thank you very much I thought it was possible any ideas as to where I can find a website that sells exhaust housings? I'm going to take it to a local performance shop to see what they can get and for what price.
