which turbo kit would you get?
I'm trying to decide between greddy and apexi turbo kit
i have a 2000 ex coupe
both are great kits, but greddy comes with a FMU right? and apexi does not. both don't have BOVs included. however the apexi turbo is ball bearing, which may spool faster, but then again i hear ball bearing turbos are hard to fix or something?
help a brotha out!

it makes me wonder because, I am not the best mechanic out there, and I just want something reliable, but with potential

The Apexi will run you, anywhere from 2600-3000+ for a full kit(with intercooler)
the greddy will run you anywhere from 1600-2000+ for a full kit(with intercooler)
Both good, Apexi i would say is better, (IHI BB turbo) but the greddy is good for 5-10psi too... so its all budget wise...
Edit: If I was you, and are gunna pay 3gs for a turbo anyway, wait for the edelbrock kit... bang for buck, and better intake mani

The apexi kit that I received for $1299 came in complete with everything except for an FMU. I bought the kit.... Go with the Apexi...

If you are looking for inexpensive and reliable....Custom turbo setup is best bet. I have a guy friend with 2000 Si runs 7.8 in 1/8 best time. He bought the Greddy kit which was great except for having to replace several of the lines, etc. Another guy friend paid 1000 for custom project turbo.
If you have the resources and the knowledge you can have an excellent setup for under 1000 after buying intercooler and fuel mngmt sys.
You buy the turbo(Garrett or Mits) and find a Manifold in a auto salvage yard. Buy all the gaskets and lines new from dealer. Find a friend with injectors, ebay for intercooler, fuel mngmt system, etc.

Yea you might want to contact Groupe S to see if they can still sell you a kit if they have them in stock. They were pretty cool except for the price hike incident. As far as the Greddy turbo limitations I would ask the guys in the Forced Induction section.

I'm getting the new Edelbrock kit. Comes with everything, Tial BOV, intercooler, pre-bent pipes for the car already, 4 extra injectors, intake manifold, and comes pre-tuned with the piggyback computer and E.O. legal, so cops can hassle me! Oh, and a Garrett T28 ball bearing turbo doesn't hurt either.

Re: which turbo kit would you get? (Marauder)
Custom or if you must go with a kit Apex'i is a little more but the turbo is better. Apex'i also sells a fuel system......not sure how good it is but it should be better then the FMU.
They also have a turbo kit coming out for the B-series motors. I know I said I wasn't going to do a turbo but I'm very curious to see what its potential is.

I have a custom turbo system, utilizing a T3 60 trim compressor with a T3 .48A/R Stage 3 turbine. In my sig you can see my full mod list on my website. Please ask me if you have any questions about my setup.

Re: which turbo kit would you get? (EL'ation)
3500 is about the same amount I will be spending for my total project as well. The parts
Apexi Kit
Intercooler
EGT/Boost Guages
Guage Pod
Honda S200+B
P28
P28 Harness
440CC Injectors
Manual Boost Controller
BOV
Dyno Tuned
Greddy Turbo Timer
Should be around 3000 to 3500
I think for now I am happy with choice I made for the kit. However the Edlebrock does look very promising. I still would prefer to have the Hondata for flexibility with the kit.

Re: which turbo kit would you get? (dabrown)
Edelbrock is saying $3500 list price. The kit will probably sell at that price when first released and distributors will probably start selling for less with time.
That price and no need to tune it on a dyno is a huge plus! Tuning a turbo setup most likely would take between a half day to a full day on the dyno, with most shops selling dyno time at about $100 to $125 an hour. You do the math.

Unless you have some serious problems it should not take a full day to tune a turbo on a Honda.....not unless the tuner isn't that great.

REVHARD 2c or at least the Apexi with the FMIC option (huge!) I installed a Greddy kit on my friends ex with the intercooler. It was too weak, we ended up taking it out and doing a b18c swap
