I have a 95 Del sol, B16 swapped and boosted.. well it started to run like ****, and I wanted to do a compression test..

so I took out the spark plugs and what not. I come back a few hours later, turn the key and it won't over, just CLICKS, coming from where the battery is.. so I hooked up another car, dash lights were bright, had full power, still clicking, wont turn over..I took off the starter, its good.. I put a brand new battery in it, still clicking..

You burnt your ignition coil. Change that i did the same thing when i did compression test on my d16

i'm stupid, i accidently put the positive on the negative when i hooked em up, so you think that blew the coil?

got a brand new ignition coil, still clicking.

we need a thread on the difference between start, crank, and run and their significance in diagnostics... that and how turnovers come in chocolate, cherry, and apple.

LOL, it wont crank, turn over, nor start. is that better?

i turn the key, it has full electrical power, all dash lights are on, lights work, etc... i turn the key, clutch in, makes a click.

but you are hearing a click?

got a test light probe thingy? stick it on the little starter wire and see if you get power when you switch the key to start.

yeah, theres a click. lol. and its getting power everywhere, even if i touch like the strut bolt, but once i touch the starter, none.

so you've got power to the starter but it isn't cranking.

if the engine will turn by hand i'd say it is the starter.

sometimes you can have someone hold the key to start and then tap the starter with a hammer and see if it'll give a couple grunts. if this works, starter is definitely bad.

where do I tap it? anywhere on the starter?

thing is, I had the starter out, and a BRAND new battery, i took 2 wires, hooked up both to the battery and both to the starter, and it did work.

tap the body of the starter no the solenoid...did you make sure you got good ground to the starter and how bout the ignition swith ..known to go bad on hondas

ill tap it tommorow.. and i mean, all my dash lights work and what not, shouldnt they stop working if the ignition switch is bad?

you may have a bad pressure plate. check that starter button behind the clutch pedal for a click sound and/or breakage.

it started up fine a few days ago, car wasnt driven.

maybe check your fuses

Probly blew your big 60amp fuse in the fusebox under the hood check them

yea you still will have power to everything but it wont send power to your S wire to trigger the starter

if you woulda blew the big 60 amp fuse you would have no power to anything you said you heard a clicking noise right???

yeah everytime i turn the key, theres one click, if i turn the key back again and try to turn the car on, it clicks one more time.

yea im leaning it to be a ground issue tryin running a ground from the starter(not anyplace that has + power) maybe the body of the starter and ground it to the body i had this issue with a swapped ef i did

so just ground the wire on like the frame?
