Re: Turbo d16 (beastyboy81)
What kind of setup (timing, cams, ignition) are you running to get these kinds of PSI? Also what octane rating is on your fuel?

I'm not being gay (assuming you are talking to me). I just want to know, because I am about to buy the Greddy kit, and I want to know what kind of boost numbers i'm going to be looking at. Does anyone know what the stock boost is on this kit?

Re: Turbo d16 (ZiggyStardust)
Safely? That just sounds insane. The d16 has such high compression. Just to make sure everyone is on the same page, I have a 94 SI, that is, it is a 1.6L SOHC V-tec. I don't remember the exact compression, but i think it is somewhere close to 9.4:1 or something. That just seems high to be pushing 14lbs of boost.

With an intercooler and NGK plugs you could safely run 14 psi .
w/ an intercooler, colder plugs, correct fuel managent, and TUNED, TUNED, and TUNED you can safely run 9-11 daily, but that pushing it.

Re: Turbo d16 (CzanSOHC)
I"ve been running 13psi with the td04-15G. No detonation, and revving up to 8k rpms daily and racked up over 6k miles driving hard. No blowby and perfect compression. BTW my fuel management is hondata.

Re: Turbo d16 (VSM EXtasy)
If there's a weak link in your engine boost is gonna find it so i recomend you do a leackdown and compression test before you take any further steps.
If you want to turbo your car do it right the first time and you'll save yourself a lot of money so do yourself a favor and get an intercooler you'll be glad you did. If you cant afford one get a used one from a dsm or something. With good tunning i'm sure you could push 9-10psi and be alright....but remeber "tunning" is the key word.

Re: Turbo d16 (Siturbohybrid)
10-11 psi on a stock d16 with intercooler if well-tuned. I would not try anything above 8psi on stock bottom end. I run 7psi on my intercooled D16Y8 with Greddy kit. Had a friend with a 94 Si with same kit intercooled try running 12 psi (untuned) and he blew the motor after a couple weeks. It better to be safe then trying to push the limits.

Re: Turbo d16 (Ginuwin3112)
engine management is so vital to any FI application. I dont have a d16 turbo, so i cant tell you from personal experience, but i would be confident running 10psi daily with the proper tuning.

Re: Turbo d16 (Mike D)
What kind of power gains are we talking here on the different boost levels? From what it seems, i'm going to probably end up pushing around 9lbs.

I am curious too, and what sort of fuel tuning you did as well, I want to turbo my d16 eventually but need to know how to prepare it.

you are an idiot.
I agree he is one stupid ****, who clearly knows nothing and should not try to help. Peolpe like this do more harm than anything.
7-8 psi max on a stock motor with good tuning
