turbo a d series!?!?!?
well im planning to swap a d16y8 into my 93 del sol and i plan to tubo it with the rev hard stage 2c kit. what do you guys think of that. i know some people that turboed their d series and got a custom fit rev hard turbo and ran mid 12's (DnH) so would it be a good idea to turbo a d series, i jus want it nice and simple i dont really like the b series just because i dont have that kind of money if i turbo it and seems a little more complicated. so tell me what you guys think

I think u can run 12's if u do a rebuild on the motor and get the block sleeved so u can boost more than that stok 6 or 7Psi, i know someone who had the the Sohc greddy kit with the Rev hard manifold in a 90Si and was running 13.4 boosting 7psi on a stock motor (93 Sohc Vtec)

yes, i think the revhard kit is overkill on the puny d series. the t3/t4 turbo that comes with the kit is too big, and will have major turbo lag. get a small greddy turbo and boost away. oh yeah, build internals before planning to run 12s.

i think that it is a good idea if your money is tight. But isnt a turbo around the same price as a b16, personally i would go with b series but i have seen plenty of singles that are turbo'd and the run just as hard if not harder the b series. I guess it all really depends on the driver and the car but either way you are going to have good performance.

yeah you will run better with the smaller turbo becaue it will spool up a lot quicker, unless u wanna get a 50 shot of Nitrous with that rev hard kit then you'll be running 12's after u do a rebuild of the motor

on my stock d16
13 psi daily,
stock internals
jsut thicker headgasket, to lower the compression
years later the motor finally went,
but years later,
fmax kit t3/t4
12.5@110

i wouldnt spend the money on a pre fabbed kit. do a junkyard setup. I would suggest doing a 14b turbo out of a 1st gen dsm. Use the HF manifold out of a 92-94 civic cx. You will need an SMC, 450 cc injectors (1st gen dsm),resistors, fuel pump, thats the main ****. If you have good junk yards by you, or if you know people, you can get most of the **** for under like $500. If you dont have any connects, than just get the pre-fabbed...

he would be better off with the Greddy kit, it's a direct bolt on kit and he want have to worry about using old parts everything will be new

Stock internals? Was reliability compromised at all? I'd love to turbo my Y8, but it's also my daily driver and I need reliability …

you'll be ok at stock boost

why not Z6 swap it
the Z6 has a stronger block than the Y8 right ?
Couple of people said this is bs.
Like me..

Re: turbo a d series!?!?!? (hakemjmba)
I just supercharged my 93 del sol SI with the d16z6 engine, and vortech fuel rail, magnecore wires, zex plugs, missing link, intake, header, exhaust, centerforce stage 2 clutch. and to tell you the truth I am really disappointed by the performance of it, the car is faster, but not as fast as I was hoping. It feels maybe a little faster than a GSR. Go with a B-series and turbo. Just my opion.
