which turbo is best?
I have a JDM b16a and i need to make sure the turbo i buy is a great one. One person said the T3/T4 turbo would be almost perfect for my car! I drive a 95 eg hb. Is garrett, better thant turbonetics? What would be a great setup to go with? thanks

This question is absolutely impossible to answer.
Different turbos are good for different applications. If you floor it to the redline everywhere, a larger turbo might be better, if you tend to shift around 3k unless it's the occasional redline pounding you'd want it to spool early so you'd get a smaller one..
Without telling us a few things it's impossible to answer:
A) How is ur car setup? Track only car? Weekend driver? Daily driver?
B) What setup you running? Just a stock B16?
C) How much power are you trying to make?
D) Where do you generally shift at - how hard on it are you (generally)

Re: (Syndacate)
well right now this is the state my car is in: Toda cam gears, ITR tranny, stock head, stock bottom end, dyno tuned with B&m adjustible fuel regulator. stock fuel rail, skunk2 intake manifold, stock throttle body, 8mm spark plug wires. it is my daily driver. i want around 400whp give or take some, i know it would be at that with stock internals but when i do infact get internals i want to be around 400whp. Well at the track i sometimes full throttle ****, but on the street generally around 8000rpm right before redline. I do get on it some but i dont abuse it.

Re: (egsnail16)
how much do you want to spend? are you looking for a kit or you building a kit maybe yourself. 400whp on 93 or race gas. It sounds like you want low end power and the best then for that is a small turbo that spools hell fast. ball bearing turbo it going to be the best, so look for that. gt30 "kinda big turbo" turbo would be pretty good for a bad *** turbo but you would really need to go with a 1.8 or 2.0l and 340whp is no going to be running long a stock block. Again i would stroke the 1.6 to 1.9 or go with a 1.8/2.0l build block...you can use gsr or do a ls/vte both have been done alotbefore, You also need the fuel system to handle the power im guessing something like 680cc or so. I would say on a 1.6 stock block, 225-250whp is safe. But there are so many factors you should look at. and the big question of Money, money money how much do you want to put in to it.
Oh im sure you know this just want to make sure... haveing a bigger engine will help the spool up alot and picking the right turbo for the app. There is no repalcement for displacement!

Re: (lucky4586)
Turbonetics specializes in higher boost, competition turbo applications, and I've heard good things about their performance and quality. Since you're looking for around 400HP (omg ), I'd say just look into Turbonetics.

Either company will get you great results, Turbonetics manufacture larger size turbos iirc. Great for the high HP goals, I'd say build your internals prior to installing the turbo kit, better safe then sorry, especially since you mentioned reving near redline. Or just get the turbo setup you want, and get it tuned at low boost, till you can afford internals, then up the boost and retune.

you keep saying you want a t3/t4 turbo well needless to say there are many different size t3/t4's on the market you have 51 trims up to 60-1's good for 200-600hp so i mean you say you want a t3/t4 yet you have no idea what your talking about go do some research hears a good sight for you
http://www.atpturbo.com/Mercha...e=GRT
have a little fun thats the garrett store for ya
now just to let you know my friend has a fully built 2.0 ltr gsr with a full race gt30r kit and he only makes 460 hp @ 28 psi and a gt30r isnt a small turbo but its more efficient than its big brother the t3/t4 57 trim and 60-1 trim levels because its a ball bearing turbo and the t3/t4 57 trim isnt so needless to say it make the same hp and it spools up a lot faster now you can go with a twin scroll gt35r which spools up at just at 4k rpm and make 600 hp or you can go with a twin scroll gt42r and push 1k hp its on u but build the car before you think about a turbo

Re: (SkertySkerty)
People who want a particular HP number are, generally, utterly ignorant to the benefits of turbocharging a car. The only number that matters is your E.T. Peak HP is the huge, virgin **** of the Honda world: it seems good, but it doesn't matter much.
Set an E.T. goal and build from there. First, though, do enough research that I don't hate you when you post

Re: (Archidictus)
Haha, your making your self look like and idiot. I know what trim i want, thats not the question i asked, i simply asked who makes the better turbo, turbonetics or garrett! so before you start getting all cocky thinking you know the world read a little bit closer. and since you didnt even answer the question i was asking why did you even post? If you have nothing to say to the original question dont wast my time!

definately get a ball bearing turbo. garret makes a gt3076r, it will spool up quicker than an average size t3/t4 and make more power at the same psi.
im already replacing my turbonetics t3/t4 for a gt30.
