TURBO B16A EG
my friend has a B16A G2 w/ CTR cams in his eg, and we want to turbo it....this will be our first turbo b series, and while he kind of knows what he is doing; and i have a GTI 1.8T w/ lots of goodies and quite the extensive knowledge on how most cars work(and how to work on them)...we would still like a some input on what to look for...
he wants low 13sec, high 12sec power(if thats reasonable) on slicks, but he doesn’t want to have to tear into the motor...we have a $2500 budget....i was thinking a t series turbo for him like a T3s60 or a t3/t4 .50...he will be running a FMIC... and if it is in the budget maybe some W/M...
he wants it to be fairly reliable as it will be is DD...and replacing the block will be reasonable within 2 years...it will see a little track time on occasion...
thanks for your input...

Re: TURBO B16A EG (WAR_GTI)
well the only 2 companies that i would use would be garrett or precision. they make great turbos and are very reliable. he could definitly hit 13's on slicks with a turbo b16. as long as his car isnt a lead sled and he knows how to drive. i would look into maybe a gt30r turbo from garrett or a gt35r but the gt35r might be kinda big for a stock motor. good luck with it and dont forget hes gonna need a good dyno tune.

Re: TURBO B16A EG (cartune network)
isnt that a lot of turbo for his expectations....and he can drive pretty good....on slicks w/ his current setup he had a couple 1.8 60's and a 14.0@97mph...and if he is going to use garret, wouldnt a GT28R or a GT2871R do the trick...

Re: (WAR_GTI)
Like someone else said, make sure you do a good dyno tune.
Remember with more power you will probaly want to upgrade other components also.
I would try to get some gsr spindles and aftermarket pads somewhere down the line.
Motor mounts will def take a **** a lot faster.
You sound like you know what your doing but just let me tell you from experience, going half *** or being ghetto on your DD starts to really get to you after a while.
Good luck

Re: (blackdelslo)
way ahead of ya there...he already has beefed up mounts...ITR and GSR brake components, a great suspension setup, heavy duty clutch, lw flywheel, full cage...ect
ok basically we would like to know of some good sources for the components(already have a turbo source)turbo manifold, piping, ect... maybe save a little coin and buy a whole kit, or partial kit...
but mostly what some of the setups that you guys are running that is similar to what we want...
