Default turbo on an auto D16Y8

i read a few posts on this and was wondering if the torque converter is really all i need to take care of...one post read 150HP is doable on the stock converter but i wanna be sure...i don't plan to run the crap outta the car...maybe once in a while...any help/suggestions (besides a b series swap) is appreciated. thanks all.

i've done a manual swap before on a 76 fairlady (but that was a loooooonngg time ago)...how much will a 5 spd run me?

The torque converter is the least of your issues...... Just do an auto to manual swap then boost it to hell.

The price of the swap will vary depending on the prices you get for parts and if you do the work yourself.

i have seen shops charging anywhere from 1000-1500, check around at local shops, but i would recommend finding your own parts, it'll be cheaper.

personaly i would just sell the car, and buy a manual

Go to a junkyard and find the pedal assembly and shift linkage and rewire your own ignition and you'll save some money on the swap. Do as much as possible on your own before throwing it into the hands of a money hungry shop. Just my .02.

the auto tranny couldn't handle that much power, and it wouldn't be that fun to drive.....just not worth it.....at all

but it could be done i guess

buy at D15B VTEC From http://www.hmotorsonline.com with the tranny, then buy a OEM vx timing belt,water pump, and all new gaskets, and you will be fine, then turbo it

have you ever done this?
you don't touch the ignition.

you need hydro lines,pedals,tranny,clutch flywheel deff get the mount if its in a eg and has nothing to do with ign at all

i did this on my 93 coupe, not turbo but 5 spd swap, and LOVE it!!! car is SOOOO much more playful than it ever was before. all you really need is the parts to do the swap, i paid someone to do it cause i dont really have time or the garage space to do it and it cost about a grand but if you know someone that knows what theyre doing yuo should be fine. one recommendation, replace clutch assembly and flywheel(optional but not necessary) and definitely CHECK IMPUT SHAFT BEARING!!! i made this mistake and it cost me quite a bit. good luck and let us know progress
