Tune-ups at 100k? DIY or pay?

Default Tune-ups at 100k? DIY or pay?

Besides timing belt, what needs to be done in terms of maintenence? Is it easy enough to DIY (I'm not too mechanically oriented) or pay a professional to do it?

DIY will depend if you have tools already, or plan to get them. It's a really good learning experiance, but buying tools can get costly if you'll never use them again. Also, if you've never done anything like this, plan to have a couple days of downtime just in case.

Most of the 30k/60k/100k stuff is just checking things. Stuff like fluids, wear on breaks, retighten suspension bolts, and other easy stuff that you shouldn't pay someone else to do.

You enter in your car and it will give you a maintanence schedule to follow, telling you wnat needs to be checked, as well as what needs to be replaced. If you swaped another engine into your car, just look up whatever car the engine came from.

at 90k you should replace the timing belt, water pump, thermostat i think too. also all the accessory belts should be inspected and your fluids should be drained. its all in your owners manual i think, and definately in the helms.

you can save upwards of 500 bucks if you do it yourself

timing belt can cost an arm and a laeg to have changed by someone else. have an impact on hand to get that crank pulley bolt off(it is a bitch)....my dad and I did not have an impact when we did it, and got it off eventually, I dont know how, but we did it....good luck!! DIY>paying someone to do the work
