TSB 97-047 D15B7 Head Gasket Repair, any info please!
I've already searched the planet for info regarding this but nothing free seems to be available. A colleage's car was in a little accident a while back and after the cosmetic repairs were complete he replaced the radiator. Since the collision the car has been sharing coolant with the oil and vice versa.
When I went to order the parts for him I found that there were two gaskets available for this, one for engines with a head gasket leak and one which is a standard replacement. Is the special gasket really neccesary, because apparently this TSB also requires the use of special head bolts as well, and at a cost of about 8 bux each times 10 bolts it starts getting significantly more expensive to repair.
I still have some time to repair this as the owner is on vacation until the 19th, but I would still like to get it out of the shop.
If anybody has anything on this problem PLEASE let me know.

Its reccomended not to reuse stock head studs, thus the need to use new head studs.
I would imagine as long as the head is straight, use the regular headgasket. I worked in a garage for 1.5yrs and have done numerous headgaskets. I have done about 3 on a honda, but have done more eclipse headgaskets than i can remember, and mitsu also reccomends replacing the head bolts. My boss never ordered new headstuds and none of the headgaskets i have done came back. But to be safe i would say get the regular gasket and order new studs if funds are available. It would be a shame to have the car look nice, but come back a week later with the headgasket still leaking.
