Icon2 trying to figure out some wiring please help

i have a 1999 civic and want to build d16z6 turbo motor and iv done a lot of research but cant seem to get the info im looking for. If im using the z6 with a p28 ECU will the obd1 harness work or will i run into problems. It seems like many people have problems with this but with the proper obd1 motor, harness, and ecu shouldnt it just all connect? or is the problem going to be at the dash harness or fuse box or sumthing?

Your '99 Civic has a 1-piece harness, where the '92-'95 Civics have a 2-piece harness. The OBD1 engine harness connects to the 2nd harness at the shocktower, which connects to the ECU at the other end, where the '99 Civic harness connects to the engine and then connects directly to the ECU. So no, you can't use the OBD1 harness. You'll need to get an OBD2B to OBD1 conversion harness, to use the P28. You'll also need to rewire the plug(s) for the distributor, because the OBD1 has 2 plugs and the OBD2 has 1. No OBD2 distributors mount up properly to the D16Z6 either, so that option is out as well. There are a couple places that sell distributor conversion harnesses though, to make things simpler. You'll use your '99 alternator, because it has the correct shaped plug. And you'll likely have to convert to OBD1 injector plugs, or find ones that are OBD2 compatible.
