those are two different gauges/testers. The first one is a compression tester (the one you want), the second is a leak down tester and its basically just another way to tell how good your rings are.

If you have a good large air cyl. or a compressor, buy the leakdown tester, it is much better.

ok,so i bought a compression tester, im not sure if i did it right, i removed the spark plugs and placed them back as i went thru the cylinders. i cranked the car for 5 seconds. i checked the gauge and it read 120 precisely thru all cylinders. im pretty sure 120 is kinda low?i always thought 160-180 was normal. reason why i checked my compression is because since i sawpped in my z6 my temp gauge runs jus a lil bit hotter than normal. nothing really serious, i dun think, but i wanna catch anything before it turns to be a bigger issue. i have another head gasket ready jus incase, i have a new 170 t-stat, my rad is not clogged(checked), hoses are fine, no air bubbles in the system, fan is on a switch but even with the fan on it never drops past this level

i dunno wat im missing?

ok. so i jus redid my compression test after reading the correct way to do it. i came out with these results. first off, i unplugged the injector connectors, wedged the tb wide open, and removed all spark plugs.
cyl. 1 185
cyl. 2 195
cyl. 3 190
cyl. 4 190
i cranked the car about 4-6 times each
and on all cyl. from the initial crank to the final crank it went up about 30-20 psi.
is this normal?

is wat skipping at all? and about the water in the oil? i dun think so. even tho a couple of weeks ago after recently swapping in the new z6 i wud pull up the dipstick and it looked like condensed water on the upper part of the dipstick(above the ful mark). i dun think i ever payed it much attention. but i check it now, and nothing. wud this cause my temp gauge to sit up at that level>?
