Trunk swap, 97 to 00 Si, Wire troubles

Trunk swap, 97 to 00 Si, Wire troubles
Okay, so I needed a replacement trunk & I'm doing a full Si conversion on my 97 DX, So thanks to one of my friends here on Honda-Tech I picked up a nice trunk from a 00 Si. Well, I have it all bolted up, Si trunk, Si bumper. So.. now I'm left with the wire harness which was cut on the Si trunk, & my wire harness.. so I did the obvious easier thing, I cut the wires from each so I could crimp the wires, then cover with loom. Well, to my surprise there are around 6 wires on the Si trunk harness & about 16 on the DX harness, on my DX harness I have doubles of many of the same wires, I'm confused & without a multimeter to dare try testing any of them. Anyone done this swap, or anyone have any insight what so ever? Thanks.
