Default Troubleshooting Passenger Window -- Motor or Regulator?

Alright, I need some expertise on this.

My window (power passenger) is acting up, It will go up about 90% of the way, and then just stop, and/or try to go up but seems as if it's slipping.

I've taken off the door panel, sprayed white lithium grease, used silicone and still have the same issue.

How can I tell if it's the motor or the regulator, and how hard is it to replace?

HELP PLEASE!!!..

-TIA Jay.

I doubt its either but youre going to have to take off the door interior panel to check. first I would check the rubber track to make sure its not bent or out of the rails. if its fine you can pull the regulator and check the gear and teeth but It wouldnt make much sense for that to be the problem.

The regulator on my driver side window is messed up. It goes up about 90% and then clicks and goes up a little and then back down a little.

Take off your door panel, put the window down a bit, and run your fingers over the teeth of the regulator. If any of the teeth are worn or missing, chances are its your regulator.

I've never replaced a power-regulator, but the manual ones are very easy. You undo the bolts holding the glass to the regulator (they'll be at the bottom of the glass, duh ), pull the glass out, and then push the window-down button. Undo the bolts holding the regulator in and pull it out through the hole towards the back of the door.

Installation will be the reverse.

Not a hard thing to do, and most of it you'll figure out once you start doing it.

yeah a clicking sound and/or a jumping window is a tell tale sign of busted teeth or a worn gear.

if the window only goes up straight about 90% of the way and then moves about .25'' to the front after that or pops out if going >60mph, you think thats the regulator? i believe it is but want to make sure before i do the work.

That sounds more like an alignment problem up top on your rail.

how would you adjust the top of the rail? the top on the rear part of the window is fine b/c i can just slide it over with my hands after its up. i know there are the adjustments on the bottom after you take the panel off but i didnt see anything that looks like an adjustment for the top.

Well, if you can pull it up by hand I don't know what to tell you. Did you feel the gears to see if they're worn?
