troubleshooting a 93 civic 2dr coupe ex no FIRE
Help!
My daily driver is DEAD I went over some RR tracks and fzzz pop engine died.
I bought this car new in july of 1993 and only have had to replace driveshafts because of torn boots and changed the timing belt and water pump radiator about 120k.
I have got 152223 miles on it now and it was just starting to get broke in.
Anyway towed it home and checked for the obvious. fuel fire etc.
found no spark. checked the power to the coil the lead from the key had 12v the other one a yellow / green stripe had none. I checked the ohms on the coil all fell within the specs
I am using a Haynes manual which is not much good but better than nothing. I traced the no power wire back to the ecu (which changed color up to the plug by the fuse box under the hood) so does this mean a new ECU?
I could use some experience here Thanks in advance!
Engine is a D16Z6

Hey well....it might be the ECU but you might need to check the fusible link fuse in the fuse box under the hood., located on the passenger side next to the battery. Check that out first....that would be my guess.................Does the car even turn over....if it does it's not the fusible link then.

I checked all the fusible links first and the fuses under the dash and by the battery
engine turns over and you can smell gas at the tail pipe.
Thanks

i would check all ground wires first. a loose ground wire can cause this. but as for the ecu, it does sound like it. liucky for you it's a honda and ecu's aren't hard to come by.

I have not tried it yet because I just read about it.
I guess I should try the jumper to get the error code out of the ECU.
Correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't the check engine light be lit if the ECU thinks there is a problem? because it does not stay lit when the key is left in the on position. I was thinking I should just clear the ECU, try to start it and then check for an error code.
I really appreciate any ideas on what to check, as the Haynes manual does not even depict the correct color for the wiring to the coil.

Re: troubleshooting a 93 civic 2dr coupe ex no FIRE (mr.rolli)
I opened the covers on the ecu and no evidence of anything burnt out or melted.
does anyone know for sure which pin should give power up to the coil?
or where I can find out I would like to make sure that maybe some wire feeding the ecu is not bad and not the ecu or a broken wire
Can someone give me an idea what else to check? I can really use the help!
Thanks Again

Well Still no success.
What would be the best way to go about this?
is there a good way to find out which pins are the ground?
my ecu is the p28-a01
is there another ecu that would work?
I just need it running not anything performance.
