trouble starting...
ok... my car (1999 d16y8) doesn't want to start while its hot (if i go for a drive and come back ... turn off the car and try to start it again... it won't start)... also my idle is messed up ... i tried putting on a gsr throttle body and couldn't get the idle down to 700.. which means its was damn near impossible to set my timing (argh!)... so i went back to stock for the time being... however.... now with the stock tb my idle is around 1200rpm (but sometimes around 7-800rpm... it fluctuates)... i don't know if the idle is related to the starting problem but my car is acting very strange... the idle doesn't jump around ... its just not consistent... and if i try to start the car when hot...i've managed to start it by mashing down on the gas and holding the key in start for a while until it catches... when it does it bogs and bogs until it finally catches... if i let go of the gas it dies... i have to hold on the gas for a while to keep the revs up until it gets going... this is driving my crazy!... my car was perfectly fine until i tried that tb swap... now my car won't even start (when its warmed up)!!!
help please!!!
thanks!

i pulled the fuse to reset the computer... i switched the map sensor ... but the tps is still the stock riveted sensor that i have not touched... i had another tps on the gsr tb so i didn't have to mess with my stock one...

did you by chance remove any of your grounds will doin the work? check: Valve cover ground, tranny ground, and your thermostat ground (should be 2 wires here)
i had the same problem with my LS swap in my 92 Hatch... it was a bad coil.

follow your top radiator hose to the block. the thermostat house has a 10mm bolt on it with 2 wires... make sure the contact is good.

ok... i checked the grounds and everything seemed ok there... i finally gave in a took it to a local shop i had dealt with before... the mechanics guess was that i have a bad sensor on the tb... he said to take it to honda for a proper check though... probably one of the sensors is bad and at start (hot start) the sensor is not letting any fuel into the system...
does this make any sense?
on cold starts it starts up pretty easily... while driving idle is steady but sometimes at a stop it will idle around 1400rpm steadily, sometimes it will idle around 1050rpm, and sometimes it drops down and idles at stock (700 or so) steadily...
any other suggestions? before i take it into honda? (i already tried swapping in another map sensor i had... same thing....)
thanks!

i would take it to honda and let them put it on the computer won't hurt and won't cost. when they ask you if you want them to fix it you tell them you have to make another appointment and just take it to a cheapper shop.
