Default trouble removing the steering hub after taking the nut...

after removing the nut on the hub, i'm having trouble removing the hub itself. i tried shaking the steering wheel to maybe loosen up, but it wouldn't budge. i tried tapping the hub all around with a hammer, but still nothing. i was wondering if anyone dealt with this and what technique they use to remove it? thanks.

Mine came off easy. Grab the wheel at 9o'clock and 3 and pull with one hand and push with the other and alternate pull, push,etc...and go around the wheel.

Also, when you are "shaking it" are you pushing in on opposite corners. Like 3 & 9, then 12 & 6 o'clock -kinda working your way around?

Another thing, you may want to try to sharply turn left and right, might loosen something up that way.

I've removed many, and normally that do come up easy -but just recently, I ran into one that wouldn't come off so easily....(TL) and I was thinking I may have forgot something.....just took a little more playing with it then it popped off.

x2 steering wheel puller is the easiest, slides off like butter, you can rent them for free from most places and it takes like 30 seconds.

Before purchasing one, does steering wheel puller work for aftermarket wheel and hub?

i had that problem also when i first got my car. I had to take off the steering column and hammer it out from the backside. I would look for the puller first, and do this last because you have to remove the whole column.

Steering wheel pullers are made generic to fit most any average steering wheel, I rented one from autozone for my s2000 steering wheel swap into my Ej.

It will work. Go rent one.

If you dont want to have this problem again put a little grease on it. WD40 works too.
