Trouble with "Mini-Me" Swap
I friend of mine has a 96 LX and is putting a 96 EX head on it. He got it all put back together and what not and when he went to turn it over there was a very loud clunking, to me it sounded as if there was a bent valve and it was hitting the piston. He turned it over manualy and at one point it would almost lock up. He wants to know what might be wrong, I think its a bent valve but just to be sure anyone else have any ideas?

Re: (Jmunk)
ok, i am the owner of the car, and after a lot of trail and error i have come to the idea the head gasket i got was defective or didn't seal right. here is why, so after alot of trouble with set the time(crank and cam), it wouldn't make a full rotation on set perfect, i was at the point to juts say **** it and rip it all back apart. so i took the spark plugs out and for some reason the time was set and i turned the crank pully and antifreeze just shot out of the spark plug tube. if i am wrong in thinking its the head gasket any late night replies would be KEY

Re: (hondaciv3)
alright well after a second head gasket was installed same thing happened, but i tihkni located the problem, is there a chance that the hoses that run to and from the IACV were in opposite spots??? i think one is a air and one is a coolent line, so maybe the coolent is coming from the intake manifold in to the engine becouse there was coolent in the manifold also, any ideas i checked all of the other lines and i think they are correct

Like stated, if you got pictures of when you motor was apart; head, intake manifold, and surface of the block and cylinder walls; whatever else is wet when its not suppose to be, would help a lot.
And i REALLY hope a coolant line and air line is missed-match. I don't know about any other types of motor but on all the D and B series motor i have worked with, the coolant hoses has clamps on them and air/vacuum hoses has no clamps on them.

Re: Trouble with "Mini-Me" Swap (ihateslowhondas)
its not the timing i have set that many times everything was lined up right, so i am not worried about that, where are all of the coolent lines spose to go, on the manifold, the 2 on the back of the manifold(iacv), and i think 2 go to the throttle body, does anyone have any other ideas than a cracked head?? i don't have a digital camera so pics aren't an option

I hate to say this ... maybe the head is cracked?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Thanks for your NOT true information. We took it all apart tonight and I looked into it a bit more and its turns out one is for air. It leads directly into the IM chamber. So Id just like to say know what the hell you are talking about before you go saying stuff. The cam timing was right on but it was just that it was pumping coolant into the IM and chambers. We got it all apart again tonight and right now just trying to figure out which lines go where. Any help would be great. We need to know where the lines are coming from that go to the IACV. Also where the 2 lines on the bottem of the TB go to as well as the one Air inlet on the top of the manifold. I think I kind of have it figured out but any help would be great.
