transmition problem
I have a 99 civic 5 sp and some time when i put it in reverse it does not go in to reverse and just grinds the gears i just bought this car and i am not really a nube at manual transmitions i have had one for 3 years already and never done this befor? does any one know whats going on here? When it does this it felt like i put in in reverse and sounded like it but it just grids the gear.

...hmm...i see your problem there.
You obviously cannot spell.
Seriously - if you find it hard to get into reverse sometimes...simply place your gear into 4th first -( as the ratio is similar to 1:1 as is reverse ) THEN placing into reverse should slide straight in.
otherwise- flush and change your tranmission fluid. A splash of fresh MTF should be good

This seems common with Hondas. Mine does the same thing. I've made it a habit, no matter what car I'm driving, always 3rd then reverse. It slides right in.

i agree with the guy who said start small.. check tranny fluid first and replace if necessary..if you do replace then FIND THE LEAK !!!.. if that's not it then it sounds like a synchronizer problem to me. it's expensive to fix using a mechanig but it's a nice do-it-yourselfer to learn from and save a bunch of money
