Default Transmissions...

What year and model trannys fit in the 2000 Civic?.. My uncle is looking for one for a client and needs to know the year and model so codes wont work.. It has a D16 engine so its not an si or anything.. Also the transmission needs to be manual if that makes any diffrerence.. Thanks

Any 6th gen manual tranny will work -- that's the wonder of honda.. All d-series trannies/motor mate up to each other, same with B-series, etc...

ANY d series transmission will fit. all the d series are interchangable just different models have different gears.

That's true but you don't have to do any modifications/changes if he drops in a 6th gen civic tranny -- you know if it's a cable tranny or w/e

CX tranny would be optimal for a boosted/built D-motor buildup.
Z6 or y8 tranny is about the best you can get for your motor, with the exceptions of the rarer JDM D15b trans (oem lsd) or a custom built trans using various gears from the ZC tranny and other 92-00 trannys.

the CX tranny is optimal for nothing other than economy or as a boat anchor. any 92-00 civic manual transmission will bolt on and work fine. But yes, stay away from the CX/VX trans or the customer will swear something is wrong with the car because it has become such a pig.

Theres some guy using it on low 10 second built D motor in a hatch, drag racing. Met him at an HT meet last summer. Guy was pushing 450whp on a fully built block using CX gearing.
