Transmission question . .
Hey guys, I have a 1998 Civic DX that needs a new transmission. If I was to go buy a transmission out of a 99-00 EX, what will I need for the install? What will be different about the way the car runs? Are the gears going to be shorter? longer? How will this change the way the car drives?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You will need just the transmission. All your sensors, brackets, and linkages bolt straight up to the EX transmission.
To do the swap, you'll need various sockets, an 8mm roll pin punch (for the bitch pin), about two quarts of MTF (I prefer Honda MTF), and various other hand tools. Also, jackstands, some 2x4's, a jack, and a friend are really helpful too.
The gears will be shorter, and you will have better acceleration. You may notice a change (read: decrease) in gas mileage, but it won't be drastic if you tailor your driving a little to shift at lower RPM's.

Re: (Eran)
I Did it to my stock y7 because My tranny was almost shot anyway.
Great upgrade, makes the car a lot more fun to drive.
You'll want to get a new clutch and either resurface or buy a new flywheel.
I got a 9lb fidanza and an Exedy clutch and it's been a fantastic setup.

So aside from buying a new clutch, and resurfacing the flywheel, I will not need to buy anything extra? The motor only has like 70k so I need to do it right and have it last.
Thanks for the help.
