OK here is whats up my friend has a 92-95 hatch. Use to be an auto but is now a manual GSR. Well he got the car from someone like that, and not he is having problems with the transmission.
Here is the problem.
Start the car put it into gear, take off, then try to shift into another gear and it wont let you.( this is any gear) You have to like hold the shifter n that gear untill it goes in.
The other thing is does:
Put it in R back up, come to a stop, then try to put it into first and it wont let you out or R.

A guy at a shop drove it and says it is a clutch problem, so do other people. I think the transmission needs rebuliding or it has something to do with the auto to manual swap.

Now this weekend he wants me to help him change the clutch.(taking the one out of his interga) Well thats about 6hr labor that if i dont gotta do i dont wanna do so...

Does anyone know of anything that would cause this problem?

Check the clutch master cylinder by the clutch pedal for fluid replace it if you see any. Do the same for the slave cylinder. If they both check out okay then its time for a new clutch. All i can say is 6 hours to change a clutch is bs. You should have the trans in and out in under 3 hours if you stop to have a few beers.

We we flush the clutch fluid and bleed it. and that 6hr is because we have to do 2 cars. The GRS and his no-runing ls. but thanx
