Equilibrium

Okay, I was driving my EG today, and I noticed when I raced it and threw it into third, fourth, and even sometimes fifth, the shift fork would not grab the gears and instead it would act as if it was in neutral. This is a H22 swap (Euro R) into an EG; I looked under the car, and realized that the shift linkage is rigged in place, do you think that would be the problem. The car acts fine under normal driving and circumstances, and if I rev high and put it in neutral then to third, fourth, and fifth, it'll catch just fine. What I really want to know is how I can stabalize the linkage (if this is the problem- which I think it is), so it'll always catch third, fourth, and fifth. Also, It has never missed second gear.
