Default Transmission problem

Recently at the track when i redline in 2nd and try to shift into third the gears grind but it goes into gear.....could it be a bad syncro

sometimes i let the rpm's drop to 3,000 and it still grinds.

But normal driving its fine.

Any ideas?

how easy is it to dissemble a tranny and replace the syncro?

anything with the tranny is a bit of work but if you put the clutch and flywheel on then you should do ok with replacing the syncro

It sounds like the synchro is going bad, but you could reduce the grinding by making sure the pressure plate and clutch disc have roughly the same rpm when upshifting and releasing the clutch. Same with downshifting, hit the throttle to bring the revs up.

forget all of that replacing syncros stuff go to your local gm dealership and get their tranny fluid. its called gm syncomesh. you will need about 3 bottles (1 quart per) of it for a normal honda tranny (2.3 quarts) drain and replace ride normal for about 50-100 miles then get on it a few times and shift out at high rpms. then give it another 50 miles and you should ahve another couple thousand miles without grnding.
