Default transmission problem...

How much does it cost to get a Transmission Bearings repaired? because my trans. bearings are mest up or worn..I really thought it was my exhaust manifold... guess NOT.. my auto mechanic teacher drove it around the corner and said it was the transmission bearings..i shoulda asked him how much it was.. but i forgot.. anyone know if replacing my transmission is less hassle or just repairing the bearings?!...

you can probably find a cheaper rebuilt or used tranny. getting trannies fixed by a pro isn't to cheap these days. I would look into local junkyards and see if you can't find on laying around.

I have this same problem with my transmission. I guess the Civic tranny is very small. It is a very good idea to just replace the transmission with a used one instead of just replacing the bearings because that wouldn't even be worth the effort. If you are going to drop the tranny then go ahead and do a complete overhaul to make it as strong as possible. I have heard of some sort of performance synchronizers? They are supposed to prevent the horrible grind during shifting when you race. If anyone has any info on that put it up. Good luck...

It's not worth it to buy another USED tranny.

Actually it's a waste of money.. buy a used tranny and then in a matter of time problems are going to occur with it.

You can buy all new tranny bearings from honda for cheap ONLINE http://slhondaparts.com

I purchased bearings and then took my tranny off and took it to a local shop and they charged me 150.00 labor and had it back to me the next day

Also make sure you find a shop that is reputable.
