Default transmission options for b18b1

need some advice on what the best course of action is.

so ive been running this transmission til it finally gave out. it did today. i know some of the gears may be ruined same goes for the syncros.
it wouldnt downshift for the last 3 months. i know for a fact the main shaft bearing is shot last night i shifted to fifth and all i hear now is a sound like a playing card in a bicycle wheel. so i think its time to fix it.
should i buy a new transmission ? or rebuild this one ?
i dont know much about honda transmissions, can a b16 tranny be fit onto a b18 engine ?
ive heard of this but not sure whether it was just switching internal gears.
whats the cheapest route. bearing in mind i may be upgrading the transmission in the future.
should i find an ls or gsr used tranny ?
rebuild options ?
im kinda looking for the most cost effective way.
thanks for any advice.

Yes a B16 tranny will fit and work great. If your running a LS tranny I would swap it out for a GSR or B16 tranny in a heart beat. Only thing that sucks with a B16 tranny is the RPMs are a little high on the HWY for my liking...

ok so ive been doing research for a day now.
it seems the ls 5th is the best for fwy.
technically could i get a b16. pull the b16 5th and swap it for an ls 5th ? since i have the gear. and 5th is the only gear in my ls that didnt have problems prior to it giving out.
btw on a side note anyone selling a tranny ? i know the motor is a 96

When I had my B18B1, I ran a GSR tranny and couldn't be happier. Great hwy driving and still spirited around town.

Turbo guys can answer you better, but I've always heard them saying LS or GSR for a turbo setup.

Even with my B16A I am running a GSR tranny in my EH3 and love it on road trips and around town.

If you are turboing DO NOT GO GSR its much much harder on your engine and turbo for highway driving always being in boost is bad for an engine

My 2cents

Turbo timer being in boost 24/7 on any engine is bad for it, forcing air into a na designed motor is always bad lol
found a gsr on the forum for 450 no grinds / no popouts. Anything I can do to double check it's legit when I go to see it ? Not saying I don't trust people just bought things before and had problems later
